Just for fun let’s explore what the singing bowl can do to enhance your meditation routine. There are a lot of people in this world that know little about meditation. Therefore, many are not aware of the tools that are available to them. Let me introduce you to this amazing tool that has been used for over 2,500 years.  You won’t want to be without, the meditation Singing Bowl!

Secrets of the Meditation Bowl

It’s no secret that the singing bowl is an amazing instrument. The bowls made thousands of years ago have a very unique sound compared to those replicas’ made today, however they are still amazing! Meditation bowls are made from twelve metals including copper, silver, zinc, nickel and iron to name a few. Thus the sounds made by the bowls are alluring and instill a trance like calmness.

How did the bowl get its name?

These bowls are not made to eat from but they are designed to vibrate sounds like an instrument similar to the gong. The singing bowl produces a bell like sound thus its name.  The tone depends on the size of the bowl and the thickness of the metal.  Bowls typically range in size from five inches to thirteen inches in diameter.

Using Your Meditation Bowl:

Lay the bowl upon the palm of your hand, fingers straight out not hugging the bowl. By placing the bowl in the palm of your hand you will experience a greater sound than placing the bowl on a pad or tabletop when using the mallet. The pressure that you apply to the rim of the bowl will affect the sounds the bowl will produce.

Singing Bowls Enhance Meditation

Singing bowls have healing effects on the body. As the mind hears the bell sound and feels the vibration it sends a message to the cells and organs to release energy blockages. The sound of the singing bowl calms the nerves and promotes deep relaxation.

Meditation Singing Bowls are used during meditation to support one of the most important concepts of Buddhism, that of being “mindful” and being in the present moment.  You too can experience the benefits of how easy and rewarding it can be to add a signing bowl to your meditation routine.
